From Zoe's Parents

For the past few months Zoe has been asking to raise money to "send to the babies in Haiti".  We've been trying to figure out the best way to help her raise funds but we haven't been able to figure out a good strategy for how to help her.  When Julie told me about the Beards for Babies fundraiser for Children of the Promise we decided that this would be a good chance for us to participate in something together as a family.

Zoe receives a small allowance every other week and often asks to give her money to other people, including Julie and I when she hears that we are sorting through our best options as far as our finances.  We make sure that Zoe "earns" her allowance by helping with tasks that are above and beyond the regular expectations of being part of a family.

We are taking a similar approach with this fundraiser and we want her to "earn" the money for her fundraiser.  Since she can't do something personally for each one of you we needed to find a creative way for her to do something for you in exchange for your donations.  Therefore, as she said in the video from last night, she will be learning at least one new fact about Haiti each day throughout the month of March 2014.  Of course we will help her with the research but she will be doing the bulk of the work to find out the answer to each question.  She will type up what she learns (with some assistance from us) and post the information on this blog.

Thank you for joining our family's journey!
